June 2008. Juliette was given a tune up in April and she's home now with me riding her sporadically. I need to do some more work before making a video, but if anyone's interested in this nice mare, please send me a note. I'm amazed at how unconcerned she's been about any goings on outside the arena. It's given me a lot more self confidence LOL. Whether it's John messing around with the tractor or the new tarp with mulch dumped on it, she's not given me any silliness. I know Reinman and Angel would at least be giving me blowing and rolled eyes! hee hee. She's getting lighter in the snaffle and moving her hindquarters over with my leg. I'm following the Clinton Anderson riding exercises that have served me well in the past. Be sure to scroll down the page!
August 2007. Juliette's colt left for Canada this month. They named him Hollywood Habit. He's very striking and looks a lot like a Desperado V baby. He learned to lead in about 3 days and did his practice trailering like a pro.
May, 2006. Juliette was riding great at the trainers. She's just been checked in foal to Hollywood White, 3 time world NRHA champion reining QH. I own 2 Hollywood Whites now and love them both. Hollywood White sired the 2006 Champion Half Arabian Reining Futurity horse at Scottsdale. Another half arab son has been winning in working cow. Several have been doing well at Regionals in WP and reining this year. They are selling for very good money. The futurity is growing in size and money. There will be a pot of over $100,000 in 2007!! The baby Jules is carrying should be very competitive as well as gorgeous.
March 11, 2006: I went to see Jules at trainer again. I'm still very pleased with progress. She's being ridden in big arena. Walk, trot, canter and circling. Keith says she's even less spooky about strange noises on the roof and such. John and I are now planning to keep her and breed her to Hollywood White. When pregnant, she will be offered for sale again, but at a much higher price. A weanling Hollywood White colt from a Desperado V daughter brought $6600 at the Addis sale in OH this past Nov. That's an awfully good price for a weanling at auction. This mare is showing a great attitude and I'll keep riding her once she comes home April 1.
Feb. 17, 2006: I went to see how Jules was doing at the trainer after 3 weeks. Keith is walking, trotting and cantering in the round pen. She didn't fuss at all with saddling. He said she bucked only on the first day of saddling and not at all while riding. I think she's a nicer mare than I first thought. Her muscling is changing already and her neck is prettier and her lope is more relaxed under saddle than I expected so early. She also uses her back nicely when stopping and I can see more reining possibility than I had first thought. She'll probably never be able to do the really big stops, but should have fast spins and easy lead changes down the road. It's only been 6 rides! Stop back in a couple weeks for next update. Nice mare.
